Workshops are one time dance or movement classes. Classes can be geared towards new dancers, mixed level or advanced dancers.
Workshops are available for dance festivals, corporate trainings, holistic events, womens' workshops or kids events.
Lisa can be commissioned for a choreography or can teach a current choreography in a workshop. Available songs include Crazy in Love by Beyonce (Urban Fusion), Carry Out by Timbalad (Urban Fusion), fusion and traditional drum solos, Egyptian Pop, Lebanese Pop, and Shaabi.

The shimmy is a quintessential and defining part of bellydance and creates a dynamic and interesting performance. Lisa will cover a variety of shimmy technique, proper usage, creating variety, level changes, layering and more.

Hip Hop Fusion
Start with basic hip hop movements and techniques and how to effectively fuse them with bellydance, then learn a combination. Learn the style that won Lisa the title of Tribal Fusion Belly Dancer of the Universe! Be prepared to get funky and sweat.
Fusion Drum Solo
Explore and drill Lisa’s favorite drum solo techniques and learn how to breakdown and approach this necessary part of any dancer’s repertoire. Expand your ability of expression during the dance by using fusion and non-bellydance movements to create a meaningful and creative dance composition. Correct your posture, drill on your foundations and learn new movements!
How To Fuse
Learn a series of fusion combos (folkloric, hip hop, latin and more!) try them to different types of music. Learn how to stylize according to music, feel and costuming. 2-4 hours (4 hours as a workshop which involves students coming up with their own combos)

In this workshop we will explore the basics of music theory and how use that knowledge to become a more expressive dancer. Students will learn how to add emotion and drama to their dance style style by working with and understanding different types of music and Middle Eastern rhythms.
It’s Good to be Odd
Learn how to count, recognize and dance to some of the belly dance’s more interesting odd rhythms. Go beyond the Karsilama and break out of the even-meter box that often cages the spirit of tribal bellydance. Bring zills or turkish spoons and bring a notepad!
Salty & Sweet
Dynamic dance performances call for us to create contrast in our performances. Learn how to add both “salty” and “sweet” movements, combinations and moods in this workshop.
Get ready to sweat! This workshop starts with a review of isolation technique and builds with the addition of layering, footwork, level changes and more.
Shaabi is an Egyptian musical and dance genre. It is a form of popular working-class music which evolved from baladi in the second half of the 20th century. Shaabi is a form of urban music and dance expressing the difficulties and frustrations of modern Egyptian life.
In this workshop participants will explore the movement style, history and evolution of shaabi.
Lisa will teach movement, technique and combinations which will culminate in a fun and sassy choreography.

For the intermediate/advanced dancers. Drill down on the essential elements of bellydance and explore advanced technique to sharpen and enhance your practice. This physically demanding workshop will challenge dancers and to take their dancing to the next level.
Bellydance A-Z. In this workshop we will explore the essentials of bellydance from the ground up, starting with foot work and working on technique, isolations and polishing accent movements. Take home handouts will help dancers take these essential tools of technique into their daily practice.
Developing a Personal Practice
A developed home practice is essential to growing as a dancer. In this customized workshop, Lisa will lead dancers through a series of exercises that will allow them to identify their goals, motivations and steps to developing a sustainable home practice. Lisa will challenge dancers to develop a series of check ins to make sure they are continuing practice.
Choreographing a Solo
A hands on, step-by-step workshop for creating a dynamic and interesting choreography. A comprehensive which will will leave participants with a toolkit for creating interesting and dynamic performance pieces.
